Geishas (literally – “women of art”) were educated women to talk to, they were nice and pleasant in all respects, being both dancers and singers, and they were also good at playing musical instruments. With a perfect knowledge of literature and poetry, with a good command of writing poems they were extremely popular – poems were dedicated to them, and people only came to admire them.
